Hunting!
Hunting in the Black Hills is easily accessible to both residents and nonresidents. The Black Hills National Forest encompasses an area which stretches 100 miles from north to south and 40 miles east to west. It covers 2.3 million acres. More than 80 percent is open to public hunting. The Black Hills are home to several big game species: whitetail and mule deer, elk, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and turkey. Coyote, many smaller predators, and varmints are abundant. Protected species such as mountain lions, bald eagles, and golden eagles also make their home in the Black Hills. Call or visit the South Dakota Game Fish and Park for more information on Licences. (605)584-3896 or on the web at www.sdgfp.info |
